Feedback from the greater community regarding the overall look and feel of the new site has been overwhelmingly positive; thank you all for sharing your thoughts with us and don't hesitate to send IT an email with further suggestions/feedback.

Innovate or Die: Pedal-Powered Machine Contest
Google and Specialized are searching for the brightest engineering minds on earth for the first ever Innovate or Die Pedal-Powered Machine Contest. They're asking students to invent and build environmentally friendly, zero-emission machines that transform human pedal power into a new and useful purpose. After you build it, film it and post it on YouTube by Sunday, December 15. The Grand Prize for the most innovative submission will be $5,000 and a Specialized Globe bike for the winner(s). The inventors behind the top 5 runner-up inventions will also receive Specialized Globe Bikes. This is an opportunity to flex your inventive muscle and have some fun doing it. And perhaps even help save our planet, one pedal stroke at a time. For an example innovation and contest specifics, please visit innovate-or-die.com.

Parents, Did You Know?
Upcoming Area Receptions for Alumni and Parents

Attention: Parents of 2011
We would like to bring on two members to represent the parents of the class of 2011 on the Parent Advisory Board by next month. We thank those of you who expressed interest during Family Weekend. If you were unable to attend but are interested in being a candidate, please visit the volunteering sign up page on the Parent website. Simply select the PAB membership (and other volunteer opportunities you may be interested in) option and click submit. To aid in the selection process, it would be most helpful if you could also email Krissy Raposa a brief bio no later than Tuesday, October 30. It will help give us background on who we are working with and what interests they have in Olin's PAB. Please include a few sentences on your background (career, experience, interest in the PAB, etc.). A resume is not necessary. The compiled bios will be shared with the rest of the PAB by the end of that week. These bios will also be used to help with the selection process when we bring on two more members next spring.
