Commencement 2007 Photos NOW Available Via Flickr
Several hundred photos from last weekend's commencement have been posted to the Olinimages group on Flickr. These photos are available for download, at-home printing and/or copies can be ordered via the Flickr site. If you do not currently belong to the Olinimages group (this is not the same as the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering group which also exists on Flickr), please send an e-mail to OlinImageAdmin@olin.edu to request group membership. An invitation e-mail will be sent to you that will give you a link to Flickr. From there, you will sign in using a Yahoo! account (which you can create for free if you do not already have one).

Please note: Due to the large number of photos taken by our photographer, Michael Maloney, during commencement, not all relevant photos have been posted; please check back frequently for updates.

Seeking Suggestions for Commencement '08 Main Speaker
The Commencement Steering Committee welcomes your suggestions for the main speaker at Commencement '08. The Committee will make a recommendation to President Miller who, in turn, will forward a recommendation to the Board of Trustees. Given the challenges of scheduling potential speakers, it is very important that our decision be made in as timely a manner as possible. Therefore, the deadline for nominations is August 1.

Please keep in mind the multiple audiences at an Olin commencement – students, parents, extended family members, alumni, Trustees, President's Council members, staff and faculty. Ideally, we are looking for someone with a connection to Olin, or to engineering and with a perspective that resonates with the values of Olin, or to both. We want her/him to be a good speaker, to convey a thoughtful message, and to add to the special sense of community at this important Olin event.

Please submit your suggestions, with name and a short rationale, to Rod Crafts, Dean of Student Life, or to the Office of Student Life, Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, Olin Way, Needham, MA 02492. Dean Crafts will collect nominations for review by the Committee.

The Class of 2007 is pleased to announce that thanks to 100% participation, more than $72,000 in senior class gift pledges will be put towards an Olin College Green Initiatives Endowment. The Green Initiatives fund is intended to support academic and extra-curricular projects that will advance and promote sustainability within Olin and the community. Applications for the funding will be solicited at the beginning of each semester and are open to the entire Olin community. We look forward to seeing many exciting projects happen in the fall! If you are interested in adding to the endowment, please visit https://www.olin.edu/about_olin/online_donation.asp.

June 30th Is Quickly Approaching—Have You Made Your Gift Yet?
Your annual support is very important to Olin College, and with only a few weeks until the close of the fiscal year, we hope to be able to include you in reaching this year's goal of 100% participation. Online giving is made easy at Olin's secure Web site: https://www.olin.edu/about_olin/online_donation.asp. Gifts via mail should be sent to: Olin College, Development Office, Olin Way, Needham, MA 02492. Please contact Joanne Kossuth with questions. Thank you for making a difference!

Alumni Commencement Events a Smashing Success
The Office of Parent and Alumni Relations and Olin Alumni Association would like to thank all those who were able to attend the Fun, Fondue, and Fond Memories event on May 18. The participation was incredible including nearly 30 alumni returning to campus for Commencement Weekend festivities! Some flew in from California, one as far as Hong Kong and others right in our backyard of Cambridge. From alumni, near and far, to faculty, staff and current students, all expressed how wonderful it was to be able to catch up with one another. It's amazing to hear all that can occur in only a year's time.

If you didn't get to see it during this event, check out the slideshow of pictures of from both alumni and people on campus. For those on campus click here. For parents, please visit the Events folder under the Information tab on the Parents' Blackboard to view this slideshow. Alumni, stay tuned for an email from the '06 Class Reps.

Additionally, the Class of 2006 hosted an informal mini-reunion on the Saturday of Commencement weekend. The evening began with a short meeting of the Alumni Association, followed by dinner at the Tavern in the Square in Cambridge MA, and then an Improv Boston show. Again, the turnout at each event was great, and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun catching up with each other.
