Resources for Post Graduate Planning Resource Center
Olin Faculty and Staff: The Office of Post Graduate Planning is developing Olin's first ever career resource center. We have the opportunity to put together a unique, complete, and dynamic collection of resources to support Olin students as they explore life-after-Olin. Do you have a favorite book or publication regarding job search, graduate school exploration, year-off, life's calling, balanced living, or any other topic you'd like to share with Olin students? We'd love to hear about it. There's so much out there that vetted material is appreciated. Contact Leslie Larocca with suggestions.

Ad Astra Room Scheduling Notice
If you are planning or hosting a meeting or event on campus, please reserve the space as soon as possible using our room scheduling system -- Ad Astra. As the college continues to host more outside groups on campus, conflicts arise, particularly when events are booked within a week or two of a scheduled event. Please request rooms for all tentative dates and cancel rooms not required as your event is confirmed.

We would ask that you request all space using the Ad Astra scheduling system by logging on to http://scheduler.olin.edu. Requests should always be entered as “Public” so other people requesting space can view existing conflicts. Please be considerate and book the appropriately sized room for your event (particularly the auditorium).

Please contact the IT Helpdesk if you have trouble with your log-in or technical difficulty with Ad Astra. If you have room reservation questions, please contact Jen MacLean

Webster Center and Boston Sports Club Seek Feedback
The Webster Center and Boston Sports Club are requesting feedback regarding awareness and satisfaction. IT Tech Talk on Software Development Life Cycle
On November 9, James Chen will speak on “Software Development Life Cycle: Take an Idea and Turn it into a Product,” in the Olin Center auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Chen's talk will explain the major stages in a full software development life cycle -- its benefits and drawbacks. He will also breakdown each of the cycles to key positions/roles that are necessary to run its operations. Chen is currently the director of product development at Jenzabar. In this role he oversees strategic product direction and technical vision. This event is sponsored by the Olin College IT department.

Dr. Holt Speaks to Needham Exchange Club -- Community Invited
President Miller cordially invites the Olin community to join the Needham Exchange Club for a presentation on “Origin of the Universe” by Professor Steve Holt. The event will take place on November 18 at 8:30 p.m. in the Olin College auditorium. In his talk, Dr. Holt's talk will explain why less than twenty years ago, the age of the universe was uncertain by a factor of two. Since then, data from NASA observatories in space have provided the basis for refining the age uncertainty to only about one percent and, in the process, have provided evidence to support the reality of bizarre concepts with mysterious names like Cosmic Inflation, Dark Matter, and Dark Energy. If you live in the universe, you don't want to miss the latest news about your neighborhood!

OSL Sponsors Student/Staff Lunch
The Office of Student Life is sponsoring a student/staff lunch at noon on November 10 in the dining hall. This will be an opportunity for students and staff to get to know each other in a casual lunchtime environment. Student hosts will "adopt" a staff member and join other students for lunch and light conversation. Come help foster the Olin community spirit! Contact Carol Kelley to volunteer and for more information.
