This year's Needham Harvest Fest once again included a strong and lively Olin student presence. Students Nick Zola, Ali Badala and Eric Munsing mingled with enthusiastic soup tasters at the world famous “Souperbowl” Competition (12 local restaurants and Olin participated this year) as they ladled up batches of George's delicious Imperial Clam Chowder. Krystin Stafford, Sam Freilich and Mel Chua, along with Cara Szeghy from External Relations, shared the Olin story with many interested Needham residents who came to visit the main booth.
Polina Segalova, Lara Clark, Meena Vembusubramanian and Lauren Hafford raised money for Olin's Habitat for Humanity by selling photographs. Additionally, Meena thrilled many young Needham girls with her (temporary) henna art making skills, (just ask Mark Somerville about his daughter's tattoo!). Additionally, Mel Chua and Andrew Hollett shared their talent for juggling for the delighted crowds.

Aaron Boxer has been appointed Visiting Engineer at Olin for the 2004-05 academic year. He is assisting Professors Schiffman and Bourne in their joint Olin/Babson class, Real Time Case Study, a course about an electronic design automation start up company. It is a great match as Mr. Boxer, a professional chip architect, currently evaluates electronic design tools for his company, Cimaron/AMCC of Andover, MA. He will also be interacting with Olin faculty whose interests and expertise overlap with his own.

Leslie Larocca has been selected to fill the position of Director of Post Graduate Planning at Olin College. This appointment is the result of an extensive national search that brought several strong candidates to the campus for interviews. In an email to the community Duncan Murdoch, VP of External Relations and Enrollment, noted, “Leslie made a very successful transition from Admission to start the Corporate Relations Office two and half years ago. She understands the challenges that lie ahead to provide Olin students with the best possible career and graduate school opportunities. Her knowledge of the Olin College culture, her determination and her passion to help lead Olin College through our first commencement in the spring of 2006 (and beyond) will serve us well.”
